A state owned initiative, The KERALA STATE FILM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (KSFDC) established in the year 1975, was envisaged to attract Malayalam filmmakers, who were then based out of Chennai, to Kerala and to promote Kerala as the production hub of Malayalam Cinema by providing state-of-the art technology, infrastructure and financial assistance.

Over the decades, KSFDC has become part of the history of Malayalam Cinema by playing a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of Malayalam Cinema by providing excellent technical/ physical infrastructure for film production and offering the service of trained technicians

A state-of-the art Film Studio Chitranjali, the first of its kind in the public sector in South India was established under its flagship. A chain of movie houses with quality viewing experience too are successfully managed across the state. KSFDC also produces Documentary, Short films and Advertisement films for various organizations and Governement departments.

Many a movies funded and produced under the package provided by the Corporation has won much critical acclaim, awards and accolades in the International, National and State levels.
